Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church Leadership

Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Alatina 'George' Gaoteote

Pastor Elder~Faifeau Toeaina

George was appointed to serve as Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church's Elder Pastor May 2019 at the Sierra Pacific Annual Conference. Prior to that, he served as Conference Ministerial Candidate under the leadership of late Reverend Elder Sa'a Faifili Gaoteote at Emanuelu Samoan FMC in San Lorenzo, CA for many years as well as being the Youth President.

The attributes that best describe George as a pastor are strong preaching, faithful servant, and counseling. He has expressed a burning desire to lead a church like Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church where biblical views are embraced and encouraged, with members who care about the needs of those around them and want to connect others to the body of Christ. George takes worship and preaching very seriously, spending multiple hours throughout the week to prepare for worship service as a bi-vocational pastor.

He graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Christian Studies.

Sa’aima’aōmalie Faifili Jr. Gaoteote

Chairman of Board of Directors~Ta'ita'i o le komiti a le Ekalesia

Fili was elected by the Board of Directors to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Emanuelu Samoan FMC in 2013 and currently holds this position. He has been a member of Emanuelu Samoan FMC since its origin and has been associated within other branches of the church most notably for the youth group and Sunday School for over 25 years. He has an extensive history as President of multiple youth groups working alongside with pastors and youth group leaders in American Samoa as well as here in the Bay Area, California.

In his own words, "For I will always trust in the Lord for He shall show my path. My journey in this life have been a heartfelt fulfillment with lots of trials and tribulations. Despite all, God has never left me once. I might have turned away a couple of times but He is still there to guide and lead me." Fili is a family oriented individual that has revolved everything he has done around his family dating back to growing up from the villages of Vatia and Fagatogo where he grew up from in American Samoa.

He graduated from Evergreen Community College in 1994 with a degree in Liberal Arts and received a Certificate of Achievement in Banking from Regional Occupational Program in San Jose.

Fili has been happily married to his special companion, his lovely wife, Jennifer, for over 16 years. They have 2 beautiful daughters: Sinaloa and Silaulelei, and a handsome son, Uitualagi.

Faaao 'Faatea' Gaoteote

Secretary~Failautusi

Faatea was appointed by the Board of Directors since its transition from the St. Paul's UMC in 1997 and continues to serve today. He has also served as a Choir Director for over 10 years prior, as the main pianist under the term of the Late Elder Rev. Sa'a Faifili Gaoteote at St Paul's UMC and Emanuelu SFMC. Faatea accumulated over 30 years of service as Secretary for the Emanuelu SFMC and was first to be elected to the position.

The best attributes that describes Faatea in his role as Secretary is management, leadership, thoughtful, and extremely generous. In his words, "Thanks God!! He has been with me through the good and down time of my life. I have been learning since I was young as the eldest child. I learned from my parents on how to serve and do God's work as it is not easy. Growing up in Samoa as a kid helped a lot because my grandfather held the same title for our church in Vatia, American Samoa." Faate'a has the flaming desire to great teaching, learning, and knowledge on how to complete God's work. Faatea feels blessed to have done God's work for a very long time. He also quotes, "Glorious to Our Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit Always Showing us the way to walk. May God continue to bless our Church and also show us the right path to walk."

He went to San Jose City College for 4 years and got his Associate's degree in Business Management from Philips Junior College. He was a manager for Denny's Restaurant for 8 years and a manager at Lifetouch National School Studio for nearly 24 years.

Faatea has been happily married to his special companion, Yvonne, and has 5 lovely children and 2 grandchildren. His beautiful daughters, Vanessa and Alexis, and his handsome sons, Faate'a, Miles, and Tumu. His amazing grandchildren are Vaatau and Melelanie.

Maopepe Gaoteote

Treasurer~Teutupe

Mao, has been a member of the Emanuelu Samoan FMC since it’s origin. She was elected into her position by the Board of Directors as Treasurer and Liaision since 2012, during the term of Late Elder Rev. Sa’a Faifili Gaoteote. Mao has matured into her role, and now serves on several boards of the Sierra Pacific Conference FMC since appointed in 2017.

Mao's career experiences in various For Profit and Non Profit Lending, outside of the church, makes her suitable for God’s handiwork on earth. The attributes that best describes her in the role of Treasurer is ambitious, achiever, and flexible. Mao is a blessing to the Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church and has served diligently.

Mark 10:45 ‘For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’ In her own words, "My purpose is just that. To serve Emanuelu with wisdom granted to me by God, for his work on earth."

Lanu Taeaotui

Leader of Women's Society~Ta'ita'i a Mafutaga o Tina

Lanu was elected by the Women's Society in 2015 to take on the torch that was passed down by the late First Lady Tumutumu Faatea Gaoteote. She continues to serve meticulously as a God-fearing woman who is determined to do God's will. Lanu has played an integral role of developing rapport with women of other religious groups and connecting the women of Emanuelu Samoan FMC to great innovative ideas.

Titus 2:3 - "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good."

Sina Taufete'e

LMC & Worship Team Leader~Sui Minisita ole Lotoifale & Ta'ita'i o Viiga

Sina was elected as a Local Ministerial Candidate in 2017 by the Board of Directors and became the leader of a newly formed Worship Team in 2018. Her vision is to motivate those who willingly want to serve God through songs and praises. She is trained to serve God and to spread the word of God throughout the world in faithfulness by studying through Core classes that are offered by the Sierra Pacific Conference. Her experience is widely noted from participating in youth activities in American Samoa as well as here in the Bay Area. Her favorite quote is, "Through Gods Grace anything is possible."

Sina enjoys the company of her companion, Ali, and has two handsome sons, Danny Taumaoe and Emelio.

Nele Gaoteote Taufete'e

Choir Director~Ta'ita'i Pese

Nele was appointed by the Board of Directors to be Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church's Choir Director in 2018 and is continuing to serve in this role. Her experience growing up in a religious family has empowered her beliefs and commitment to actively involve herself in every aspect of the Methodist church from American Samoa to here in California. In her own words, "When you are given a talent, it is God's will to make you of it."

The best attributes that would describe Nele as Emanuelu's Choir Director are gifted talents in singing, teaching hymns through the power of listening to old traditional Samoan tunes and Methodist hymn books and aligning it with great amazing lyrics from her creativity without original notations or music books.

Nele is a mother of 5 children and one grandchild. She has 4 handsome sons, George, Anothen, Kairos, and Jayden, 1 beautiful daughter Amia, and 1 gorgeous grandaughter, Nelita.

Amia Taufete'e-Toa

Youth President~Peresetene Autalavou

Amia was nominated by the members of the Youth Group and approved by the Board of Directors in 2017. She continues to lead as a young and energetic leader that uses her professionalism as a Senior Private Banking Representative to minister to the youth group at Emanuelu SFMC. Amia has worked closely with youths from around the Bay Area under the tutelage and mentorship of Elder Pastor George Gaoteote. Her mission in ministry is to encourage the “Next Generation” to enthusiastically pursue a relationship with God; and to seek to live up to God’s standard; while striving to be 10x better, as referenced in Daniel Chapter 1.

She studied for 2 years at Chabot College and has been in the Banking Industry for over 14 years. The best attributes that describes Amia as Youth President is her leadership and determination to get things done.

Amia is married to her companion, Suni, and has 1 beautiful daughter, Nelita.

Anthony Tapatonu Gaoteote

Tony was nominated in 2020 by the Board of Directors to serve as the leader of Trustees for the Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church. He considers this calling as a great blessing. Tony gladly serves the Lord through overseeing the physical maintenance, care, repairing appliances, and overlooking the property at Emanuelu SFMC.

The attributes and skills that best describes Tony as the leader of Trustee committee are accountability, positive mindset, empathy and humility. His determination to complete a task is highly perceptible in a timely manner.

Tony is a father of 4 beautiful kids. He has 2 beautiful daughters, Jada and Isa, and 2 handsome sons, Johnathon and Jerry.

Ricky F. Gaoteote

LMC & Sunday School Teacher~Sui Minisita ole Lotoifale, Faiaoga Aso Sa

Ricky was elected by the Board of Directors to serve as a Local Ministerial Candidate(LMC) to the Sierra Pacific Conference in 2017 and volunteered to be a Sunday School Teacher in 2019. For over 30 years and since his adolescent years, he has continued to serve within the choir, youth group, and outreach programs for St. Paul's UMC in San Jose, Hayward FMC in Hayward, and the Emanuelu SFMC in San Lorenzo. He played an integral role as the Leader of Emanuelu's Choir during the recording of their "Tala'i Pea" Album in 2013. His commitment to the roles and responsibilities within the youth group and Sunday School kids goes beyond recognition. His impeccable talent as a Pianist for many years is widely known to the Samoan community throughout California and the whole United States. He was the main pianist for the Emanuelu Samoan Free Methodist Church before stepping down to take on other opportunities within the church.

The major attributes that best describes Ricky are developments in executing goals to achieve growth, his gifted abilities to develop meaningful relationships, his leadership in speaking and teaching with solid management, and his proficiency in ministering to adults, youth, and kids.

Ricky graduated with Associate's Degrees in Social Science and Human Development from Ohlone College in 2018. He also graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology while minoring in Education from San Jose State University in 2019. He has been a member of the Phi Thetta Kappa Honor Society since 2016 when he started his educational goals and has volunteered his time at many SJSU social programs designed to engage with the community of San Jose, Milpitas, and Fremont where he has interacted with many people that are currently homeless, jobless, poor, and living in poverty. He has ministered to strangers whom he calls brothers and sisters in Christ.

Ricky has enjoyed the company of his lovely companion, Kalisi "Sweetie", for over 15 years. They have two beautiful children: a handsome son, Ricky Taufili-Malosi and a beautiful daughter, Peilisi Taufanu'u-Pepe.
